Community Solar Updates for Xcel Energy

Community Solar Updates for Xcel Energy Overview

Welcome to the Xcel Energy community solar garden update blog. With your membership, you’re saying yes to renewable energy in your neighborhood. Our developers (Novel Energy Solutions) are in the process of constructing multiple gardens at once. Memberships like yours help us grow and bring more savings and support of clean, local energy to your neighborhood.

The three main steps to building a community solar farm:

  • Construction started
  • Solar panels installed
  • Power grid connected

All of these steps need to take place before savings can begin.

Communities Served by Join Solar

Solar energy produced by Join Solar’s gardens will provide clean energy to Xcel Energy which serves communities across Minnesota.

Construction Updates

February 2023

During the winter months construction is limited in Minnesota. Our developer will be ramping up construction once the ground start to thaw. In the meantime, the crew has been busy prepping civil work at the Swenson site.

October 2022

The Titlow Community Solar Garden and Renville Community Solar Garden are in the home stretch. Both gardens are fully constructed and awaiting connection to Xcel’s power grid. At this point, Xcel will run tests and perform inspections of the site to ensure everything is working as it should. Once they give the final approval, the solar garden will be connected to the power grid and turned on!
