Join Solar at the Maine Association of Retirees Event: Sunlight, Signups, and Giving Back
On Wednesday, May 21, Join Solar had the pleasure of participating in the Maine Association of Retirees’ (MAR) annual meeting at the Augusta Civic Center.
On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Join Solar had the pleasure of participating in the Maine Association of Retirees’ (MAR) annual meeting at the Augusta Civic Center. The event brought together a wonderful crowd of 250–300 retired state employees, educators, and public servants, all sharing stories, laughter, and a genuine sense of community.
We were honored to be among the vendors, connecting with attendees about a brighter, more affordable energy future through our community solar program.
One of our passionate sales representatives, Matt Dovenberg, was front and center at the Join Solar booth, ready to chat with anyone curious about lowering their utility bills without needing to install panels or change their energy provider.
With clear explanations, simple handouts, and plenty of enthusiasm, they helped attendees understand how subscribing to a local solar farm can lead to 15% savings on monthly electricity costs, no roof required, and no cost to join.
A Cause That Gives Back
What made this event extra special for us? For every person who signed up at the event, Join Solar donated $50 to the Maine Association of Retirees in appreciation of their lifelong service and to help support MAR’s mission.
Many retirees told us they were excited to finally see an energy solution that didn’t require home upgrades or large upfront costs. One attendee even said, “I’ve been wanting to go solar for years, but it never felt accessible until now.”
That’s exactly what Join Solar is about: making clean energy affordable and easy for all Mainers, especially those on fixed incomes.
